Mifflin-St Jeor Formula:

For men:

BMR = 10 × Weight (Kg) + 6.25 × Height (Cm) - 5 × Age + 5

For women:

BMR = 10 × Weight (Kg) + 6.25 × Height (Cm) - 5 × Age - 161

Revised Harris-Benedict Equation:

For men:

BMR = 13.397 × Weight (Kg) + 4.799 × Height (Cm) - 5.677 × Age + 88.362

For women:

BMR = 9.247 × Weight (Kg) + 3.098 × Height (Cm) - 4.330 × Age + 447.593

Example 1

John's age is 29 and height is 157 cm and weight is 73 kg then the BMR will be calculated in the following manner

Here is how John's BMR is calculated

BMR = 10 × Weight (Kg) + 6.25 × Height (Cm) - 5 × Age + 5

BMR = 10 × 73 + 6.25 × 157 - 5 × 29 + 5

BMR = 1571 Caloris/Day

Example 2

Charlie's age is 29 and height is 5 feet and 2 inch and weight is 160 lbs then the BMR will be calculated in the following manner

Here is how Charlie's BMR is calculated

BMR = 9.247 × Weight (Kg) + 3.098 × Height (Cm) - 4.330 × Age + 447.593

BMR = 9.247 × (160/2.2046) + 3.098 × (5/0.032808 + 2/0.39370) - 4.330 × 29 + 447.593

BMR = 1404 Caloris/Day
